The largest Swiss Gold Nuggets
The Ara Fontanivas nugget has a weight of 123.1 grams and a length of 6.2 centimeters. Peter Boelsterli found this nugget in 1997 above the water level in the Anterior Rhine. It is the largest gold nugget ever found in Switzerland. Composition in%: gold 74.81, silver 24.43, lead 0.10, copper 0.09. The nugget is owned by Siber + Siber in the Aathal.
The Desertina Nugget weighs 48.7 grams, its largest diameter is 2.9 centimeters. I found this nugget in 1996 in the Rhine Medel 1.8 meters below water level in a crevice. Composition in%: Gold 79.36, Silver 19.42, Lead 0.11, Copper 0.17. The largest nugget from the Rhine Medel can be viewed in the Mineral Museum Disentis where is it on loan.
